Domestic Abuse Worker

We are working with a client in Gateshead to appoint a full-time, permanent Domestic Abuse Worker. In this role, you will provide advocacy, advice, and practical and emotional support to adults, children, young people, and families affected by domestic abuse.
You will hold your own caseload, undertake assessments, and develop support plans, working in partnership with other professionals to contribute to Early Help, Child Protection, Child in Need, or Looked After Child plans, aiming to reduce the risk of harm.
Key Responsibilities
Provide practical, emotional, and advocacy support to victims of domestic abuse.
Undertake assessments and develop tailored support plans for adults and children.
Work collaboratively with multi-agency teams to contribute to safeguarding and protection plans.
Apply knowledge of domestic abuse, child protection, risk assessment, and safety planning.
Maintain professional boundaries and work to equal opportunities principles.
Key Requirements
Professional qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
Knowledge of the impact of domestic abuse on adults and children.
Understanding of child protection procedures and relevant legislation (civil and criminal).
Experience working with victims of domestic abuse and their families.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and communication skills.
Contract Length: 3-6 months with a view to extend to an ongoing contract.
Pay Rate: £20-£25 ph (Negotiable DOE)
Working pattern - 37 hours per week.
