Deputy Chief Accountant
My client is a Local Authority in East Midlands who are looking to appoint a talented Deputy Chief Accountant on an Interim basis
About the role:
Based in East Midlands (Hybrid):
What's on offer:
- Day Rate: £600 - £700 Per day.

- Contract type: Contract (36hrs a week)
- Hours: 09:00 -17:00 Monday to Friday
You will be responsible for:
- Support the day-to-day audit, freeing up the Chief Accountant to focus on complex issues that need unpicking.
- Take ownership of tackling and resolving historic financial and other audit items
- Serve as the day to day lead on the external audit, under supervision of the Chief Accountant, preparing documentation and addressing audit inquiries.
- Undertake reviews and put in place quality reconciliations to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- This role is critical for providing stability and continuity. By tackling existing issues, you will free up our interim Chief Accountant to focus on strategic initiatives and complex, long-standing projects.
About you:
You will have the following experiences:
- Experience at this level within a Local Authority.
- Membership of appropriate professional body by examination e.g. CIPFA, or other CCAB body; plus evidence of continuing professional development (CPD).
- Experience of working in a financial accounting role, with evidence of having advised senior management in financial accounting.
