Corporate Investigation Officer - Permanent
Spencer Clarke Group are working closely with a Local Authority to appoint a Corporate Investigation Officer to join a shared Corporate Anti-Fraud Service supporting multiple London Boroughs.
This is a hands-on investigative role focused on tackling fraud and corruption, working across complex cases and contributing to a strong anti-fraud culture across the organisation.

The Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for investigating allegations of fraud and misconduct, ensuring cases are handled professionally, lawfully and to a high evidently standard.
Key responsibilities:
- Investigating suspected fraud and irregularities across council services and partner organisations
- Gathering, analysing and evaluating evidence to support investigations
- Conducting interviews, including interviews under caution in line with PACE
- Preparing detailed case files, reports and recommendations for action
- Working with internal teams, external agencies and law enforcement where required
- Managing a caseload of investigations and ensuring timely progression
- Attending court and presenting evidence where necessary
- Supporting fraud prevention initiatives and promoting awareness across the organisation
About You
You will ideally have:
- A recognised counter fraud qualification (ACFS / ACFM / ACFE or equivalent)
- Experience undertaking fraud investigations within the public sector or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation (PACE, CPIA, Fraud Act, RIPA, Data Protection etc.)
- Experience gathering and analysing evidence and preparing case files
- Ability to manage a demanding caseload independently
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
