Consultant Psychiatrist - West Yorkshire
Permanent | Full-time (37.5 hours per week)
We're seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join a specialist female rehabilitation service in West Yorkshire. This is a rewarding role within a secure and structured environment that supports women with complex mental health needs, including personality disorders.
You'll be part of a dedicated multidisciplinary team that delivers person-centred care designed to promote recovery, independence and long-term wellbeing.
The Role
As Consultant Psychiatrist, you'll hold overall clinical responsibility for a designated patient group, working closely with nursing, psychology, occupational therapy and social work colleagues. Your focus will be on delivering high-quality assessment, treatment and rehabilitation plans that support meaningful progress and community reintegration.
Key aspects of the role include:

  • Acting as Responsible Clinician under the Mental Health Act for patients within your care.
  • Leading multidisciplinary clinical reviews, formulation meetings and care planning.
  • Providing psychiatric leadership and clinical guidance across the service.
  • Participating in governance and service development activities.
  • Offering supervision and mentorship to medical and clinical colleagues.
  • Maintaining professional development and revalidation in line with GMC and Royal College standards.

About You
We're looking for someone who combines strong clinical skills with a collaborative leadership style. You'll be comfortable working in a dynamic, team-based environment and confident in managing the complexities of rehabilitation psychiatry.
You will have:

  • Full GMC registration and a licence to practise.
  • CCT (or equivalent) in General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry.
  • MRCPsych or equivalent qualification.
  • A sound understanding of rehabilitation approaches and risk management.
  • Experience in leading or contributing to multidisciplinary teams.
