Commercial Lawyer

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Lawyer based in the Southeast region to support a local authority with an ambitious investment programme in council housing and estates.
As part of this exciting transformation, you will play a pivotal role in drafting and negotiating construction and consultancy contracts, ensuring compliance with procurement and governance requirements, and mitigating commercial risk across a large portfolio of housing projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of housing and construction-related contracts and consultancy agreements.
- Provide commercial and risk management advice to project teams, ensuring value for money and legal robustness.
- Support the delivery of the Council's capital works programme, including drafting and negotiating JCT/NEC contracts, collateral warranties, and guarantees.
About You
- Qualified Lawyer/Solicitor with current practising certificate.
- Extensive experience drafting and negotiating JCT/NEC contracts and related construction documentation.
- Strong understanding of public procurement law, compliance frameworks, and risk management.
