Charity Accountant - Interim (6 months)

My client is a Local Authority in the East Midlands who are looking to appoint an experienced Charity Accountant on an interim basis.

About the role:
Based in the East Midlands (Hybrid):

What's on offer:

• Day Rate: £500 - £600+ per day (please submit your CV with the rate you require)

• Remote Working / Hybrid Available

• Contract Type: Contract (36 hrs a week)

• Hours: 09:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday

You will be responsible for:

• Reviewing and appraising draft charity/trust accounts, and preparing others as required.

• Conducting a thorough review of existing financial records, identifying and rectifying historical errors and inconsistencies.

• Working closely with external auditors preparing the 2025/26 accounts, ensuring accuracy and reliability of data.

• Collaborating with the property team and external parties to resolve long-standing challenges in obtaining accurate trust accounting information.

• Supporting balance sheet reviews and helping to strengthen financial governance.

• Implementing clearer policies and procedures to improve transparency and compliance with Charity Commission regulations.

This is a hands-on role, pivotal in ensuring the council's charity and trust accounts are accurate, compliant, and well-governed.

About you:
You will have the following experience:

• Demonstrable experience preparing charity/trust accounts within a local authority or charity setting.

• Membership of a recognised professional accountancy body (CIPFA/CCAB).

• Strong knowledge of Charity Commission regulatory requirements.

• Experience collaborating with auditors and resolving complex financial records issues.
