Job Description: SEMH Learning Support Assistant
Location: Blackpool - SEMH Provision School
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30-15:30
Contract: Term Time Only
Daily Rate: £106 per day
Overview
We are seeking a committed and enthusiastic SEMH Learning Support Assistant to join our specialist provision in Blackpool, supporting pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The successful candidate will provide targeted support to help pupils manage emotions, overcome barriers to learning, and engage positively with school life. This is a rewarding role suited to someone who is passionate about supporting young people who may present with challenging behaviour.
Key Responsibilities
Provide 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEMH needs.
Assist in the delivery of personalised learning plans and behaviour support strategies.
Encourage positive behaviour, emotional resilience, and social skills development.
Support pupils with classroom activities, academic tasks, and curriculum engagement.
Use de-escalation techniques and restorative approaches when required.
Promote a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment.
Build strong, trusting relationships with pupils, acting as a positive role model.
Work collaboratively with teachers, pastoral staff, and external professionals.
Contribute to progress monitoring, safeguarding notes, and behaviour logs.
Support wider school activities and therapeutic interventions.

Teaching Assistant

Support Worker
Sports Coach
Experience supporting children with behavioural, emotional, or social difficulties is advantageous.

Requirements
Enhanced DBS Check (or willingness to obtain)
Right to Work in the UK
References covering at least the last 2 years
Understanding of safeguarding and child protection (training can be provided)
