Job Title: 1:1 Tutor - Alternative Provision (SEND & EHCP Learners)
Location: Covering Derbyshire - including High Peak (Glossop, Buxton), Derbyshire Dales (Matlock, Ashbourne), Chesterfield & North East Derbyshire, Amber Valley, Erewash, and South Derbyshire
Pay Rate: £30-£35 per hour
Hours: 10-15 hours per week (flexible scheduling)
About the Role
We are seeking dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Tutors to deliver high-quality alternative provision for learners with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs).
This role involves providing tailored, engaging, and supportive tuition to help learners achieve their academic and personal development goals outside of a traditional school setting.
Sessions typically take place either:
In the learner's home, or
Within a community setting such as a local library
Key Responsibilities
Deliver personalised 1:1 tuition in line with each learner's EHCP outcomes
Plan and adapt lessons to meet individual needs, abilities, and interests
Build positive, trusting relationships with learners and families
Monitor progress and provide feedback to relevant stakeholders
Support learners with emotional regulation, engagement, and confidence-building
About the Learners
You will be working with children and young people who:
Have a range of SEND needs (e.g. ASD, ADHD, SEMH, MLD)
May be out of mainstream education
Benefit from structured, nurturing, and flexible learning approaches
Requirements
Experience working with SEND learners (essential)
Understanding of EHCPs and differentiated teaching strategies
Ability to engage and motivate learners on a 1:1 basis
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)
Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred due to travel requirements)
