1:1 SEND Tutor - Bolton & Wigan (£30-£35 per hour)

Hours: 6-10 hours per week (per student)
Location: Bolton and Wigan - tuition delivered in the child's home or a community setting (e.g., library)
Pay Rate: £30-£35 per hour
Schedule: Tuition takes place during the school day

About the Role

We are looking for experienced and compassionate 1:1 SEND Tutors to support children and young people across Bolton and Wigan who are currently unable to attend school due to SEND or medical needs. A high number of learners have EHCPs, so a strong, confident understanding of SEND is essential.

You will provide personalised, structured tuition that promotes academic progress, emotional development and confidence, working closely with families, schools and local authorities.

Key Responsibilities

• Deliver individualised 1:1 tuition tailored to the learner's SEND needs and EHCP outcomes
• Plan engaging and differentiated lessons
• Build and maintain positive, supportive relationships with students and families
• Keep accurate records and create progress reports
• Communicate effectively with schools and external professionals
• Deliver sessions safely in home or community-based settings
• Promote independence, motivation and a positive attitude to learning

Essential Requirements

• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (mandatory)
• Strong SEND experience, including working with pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and medical needs
• Teaching or tutoring experience in an education setting
• Confident ability to adapt lessons to meet diverse needs
• Excellent communication and organisational skills
• Patient, empathetic and flexible approach
• Able to work independently and manage your own caseload

Desirable

• QTS or equivalent
• Experience working with pupils who are out of school
• Background in SEND schools, PRUs or alternative provision
