Interim Deputy Headteacher - Special School (SEND)
Location: South Essex
Contract: Interim / Full-Time
Competitive daily rate, depending on experience
We're working with a special school in South Essex that supports children and young people aged 3 to 19 with severe, profound, and multiple learning difficulties. This includes pupils with autism and complex physical or sensory needs.
The school is looking for an Interim Deputy Headteacher with strong SEND experience to support the leadership team and help maintain high standards of teaching, learning, and care.
Main Responsibilities:
Support the Headteacher in the day-to-day leadership and management of the school.
Lead on areas of SEND provision, safeguarding, and curriculum development.
Work closely with staff, parents, and outside professionals to ensure the best outcomes for pupils.
Help drive school improvement and promote an inclusive, positive environment.
Requirements:
Experience as a senior leader in a special school or inclusive setting.
Strong knowledge of SEND frameworks and legislation.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
A genuine commitment to improving the lives of children with complex needs.
