Meet the Team - Luke Meeks

We recently caught up with our Senior Graphic Designer, Luke Meeks, to discover what motivates him at work, how his career path led him to Spencer Clarke Group's door and what the future holds for him here.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked here at Spencer Clarke since November 2021 and I love it here.

What does your role entail?

I design and produce marketing material for a wide range of recruitment sectors, ensuring they effectively communicate the desired message and align with the company’s branding, including print, digital and video. 

I also maintain and update graphic design assets, including photos, logos, and templates, ensuring they remain current and fresh!

What do you love most about what you do?

I love being creative in both Marketing and Graphic Design. Spencer Clarke Group are very ambitious and I love being part of such a dynamic team.

What motivates you at work?

I'm motivated by working as part of a fun team and receiving constructive feedback on my designs - that's the most important thing!

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

There is high energy, great colleagues to work with and a positive work culture.

Tell us about your career path so far

I started my working career in hospitality where I spent 15 years working in pubs, bars and nightclubs.

It's here where I first started in marketing & design, first working for a small pub chain for 7 years before moving on to an accounting firm where I honed my digital marketing skills.

I soon realised that the graphic design aspect of the role was something I enjoyed more. It was then that I joined Spencer Clarke Group.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I hope they would say I am friendly, helpful and funny.

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

You would probably find me hiking, travelling or looking after my little boy!

I’m banned from playing Monopoly with my partner!

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

My role is to give the brand a fresh and professional image through design and I can't wait to see what the future holds. Working in graphic design is very exciting and there's always a new project to get stuck in to.

Where’s the best place you’ve traveled to?

The Atlas Mountains in Morocco.

What advice would you give to your young self?

Keep doing what you’re doing, it gets better.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I've met Sir Ian McKellen (Gandalf) at a bar in Leicester Square.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

A solar generator, an iPod and a KFC.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have a cat!

Do you have any hidden talents?

I did contemporary dance until A level.

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

FatBoy Slim on Brighton beach.

What animal is your spirit animal?

I would say a Koala Bear!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I love watching Made in Chelsea!
