We recently caught up with Principal Consultant, Chris Wilkinson, to discover more about his time at Spencer Clarke Group and how a change in career led him into recruitment.
How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?
I have worked at Spencer Clarke Group since April 2019. I can’t believe it has been that long already!
What markets do you specialise in?
I specialise in Property and Regeneration across London.
What do you love most about what you do?
I love that working in the recruitment industry is so fast-paced and I also get great job satisfaction in helping candidates secure their new role. Knowing I have helped them do so is a great feeling!
What motivates you at work?
The office is full of high achievers so I believe that we all motivate each other. We are always striving to be better! I am also motivated to provide my clients and candidates with a second to none service, so they know they can trust me with their job hunt or looking for their ideal candidate.
How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?
Working at Spencer Clarke Group is like no other job I have had in the past. I have worked at other recruitment agencies and I can confidently say the environment and work ethic throughout the office here at Spencer Clarke Group is exceptional! There is no other place like it!
Tell us about your career path so far
At the age of 16, I started an Advanced Engineering apprenticeship and I continued with this profession for 5 years! At the age of 21, I realised that I didn’t have the passion and drive to continue in engineering, so I decided I needed a change.
I then began my career in recruitment, focusing on the construction sector and the rest is history. My career change is without a doubt the best decision I ever made.
How would your colleagues describe you?
I’d like to say they would describe me as competitive, determined and tenacious.
Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?
You will find me either in the pub with my mates, or walking my dog Marnie up Rivington Pike with my wife!
Tell us something we’d never guess about you!
I’ve been to America 12 times! I love it there!
What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?
I am going to continue providing outstanding service to my clients and candidates and as always, I will represent Spencer Clarke Group to the best of my ability.

Hawaii - it’s amazing there!
What advice would you give to your young self?
Be patient, everything will work out.
Have you ever met anyone famous?
I met Daniel Craig at Froch Groves 2 fight at Wembley Stadium.
What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?
I’d take a swiss army knife, my dog and a sleeping bag.
Do you have any pets?
Yes, I have a dog called Marnie!
Do you have any hidden talents?
No - not to my knowledge anyway.
What’s the best gig you’ve been to?
Sonny Federa in Ibiza!
What animal is your spirit animal?
I’d say a Tiger Shark.
What’s your guilty pleasure?
Probably eating too much chocolate. I also love an espresso martini!
