Meet the Team - Matt Byrne-Fraser

We recently caught up with the Managing Consultant in our Accountancy and Finance department, Matt Byrne-Fraser, to discover what motivates him at work, how he fell into the wonderful world of recruitment and what’s next for the Accountancy and Finance team!

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked here since December 2019 and it's flown by so far!

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in the Accountancy and Finance sector.

What do you love most about what you do?

I take great pride in helping my clients to find people who can develop their business. I also get a lot of satisfaction from helping candidates to find their dream job.

What motivates you at work?

I am extremely motivated by the ability to provide for my wife and young child.

I’m also motivated by being the best possible consultant that I can be and inspiring my Accountancy and Finance team to be the best they can be as well. I love helping others to achieve their goals and dreams.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

The working environment is like nowhere I have ever worked. There is so much support, energy, commitment and team camaraderie from everyone in the team.

We are like a family of recruiters and support staff. It is a very hard working and fun environment.

Tell us about your career path so far

After graduating in Sports Therapy, I worked in the football industry for 3 years. One day ten years ago, I fell into recruitment and I haven’t looked back since.

Since then, I have worked in senior positions at various recruitment companies until I joined Spencer Clarke Group to help build and develop the Accountancy and Finance department here.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I’d like to think they would say hard working, dedicated, early to work, committed and passionate about my job.

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

I’d either be running around after my little boy, out and about with my family or in a DJ booth somewhere!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

Outside of Spencer Clarke Group, I travel the world as a tour manager for a DJ.

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

We’re looking to continue building our division, adding new members to our team and growing and developing relationships with current and new clients to help them with their talent acquisition needs.

Investing in our people is really important to us so we’re also going to continue growing and developing our training programmes.

What’s your favourite film?

It has to be Bad Boys 2.

Where’s the best place you’ve traveled to?

Dubai was by far my most favourite place!

What advice would you give to your young self?

Be patient and enjoy the process.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

Tiesto.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

I would take my iPhone, a solar powered power pack and some beers.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have 2 dogs, Max and Pablo.

Do you have any hidden talents?

No, I don’t think so!

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

I can’t decide, it would either be Tomorrow Land, Pacha nightclub in Ibiza or EDC Las Vegas.

What animal is your spirit animal?

A Labrador because I’m loyal and hard working.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Wine Gums - they’re the best!
