Meet the Team - Grace Salisbury

1-2 minutes

We recently caught up with Senior Compliance Officer, Grace Salisbury, to discover what motivates her at work, how her colleagues would describe her and where we would most likely find her outside of work.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked here since February 2019 and loved every minute since!

What does your role entail?

My job is to ensure that all the candidates have the correct documents on file so that they can start work with no hiccups.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love working towards a goal and doing things as quickly as possible to keep the wheels of the business in motion.

What motivates you at work?

I am motivated by being able to give my little boy better than what I had growing up.

In the Spencer Clarke Group office have an interactive whiteboard where the whole office marks down their achievements.

It’s great to see the numbers going up hour by hour as you can physically see how well we are performing and our achievements are recognised.

It’s great for the new starters too because you can see that they are doing just as well as the rest of us who have been here for years - it’s nice to see!

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

It’s a whirlwind but in a really good way! It’s very busy, there are always things going on and it’s a really enjoyable place to work.

I’m at work more than I am at home but I don’t dislike that because it’s a work family here.

Tell us about your career path so far

I went to Newman College and studied Health and Social care because I originally wanted to be a carer. I dropped out because I soon realised that it wasn’t what I wanted after all and I wanted to pursue the start of my working career.

I began my working career as a secretary before joining a different recruitment agency in their reception. As the reception was away from the main floor, I wanted to be a part of the hustle and bustle of the main office.

After leaving this agency, I joined Spencer Clarke Group as a Recruitment Support Officer - finally on the main floor!

How would your colleagues describe you?

They would describe me as friendly, feisty, a drama queen and confident!

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

Probably in a kids play centre with my little boy - I like to let him run wild and unleash all his energy!

I’m also partial to going out for a nice cocktail somewhere!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

I have a huge family and my grandad is from Jamaica! He came over to the UK in his early teens so I have family there and 8 aunties and uncles in the UK.

10 Quick Fire Questions!

What’s your favourite film?

Home Alone 1 & 2.

Where’s the best place you’ve traveled to?

Paris, especially Disneyland!

What advice would you give to your young self?

Take life at your own pace, don’t try to run before you can walk.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

No.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

Sweets, a bed and a yacht!

Do you have any pets?

We have a family Cocker Spaniel, Millie and I have my own little pup called Lola, who is a regular in the office!

Do you have any hidden talents?

I make a mean Spaghetti Bolognese!

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

It has to be Take That!

What animal is your spirit animal?

I would say a dragon because I’m feisty - the office has witnessed it on a few occasions! Don’t cross a moody Grace!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

I used to love eating apple and pear baby food from the jar - is that embarrassing?!

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I’d like to keep progressing and working on personal growth in the position which I’m currently in. I also want to continue helping the new starters and sharing the knowledge which I have learnt with them.
