Meet the Team - Joe O'Halloran

1-2 minutes

We recently caught up with Senior Consultant, Joe O’Halloran to discover what he loves about Spencer Clarke Group, how his career path led him to where he is now and what’s next for him at Spencer Clarke Group.

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I started in April 2021 and I love it!

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in Property and Regeneration across the nation.

What do you love most about what you do?

The satisfaction of finding and placing someone into employment is one of the best parts about the job.

Another thing which I love about Spencer Clarke Group is that hard work is recognised with the employee of the month nominations. Each month, all the teams are asked to nominate who they think should win employee of the month and the person with the most votes gets a spin on the wheel to win a prize.

What motivates you at work?

Everyone who works here is extremely motivated and I love working around like minded people because it makes me strive to do better. I always try to perform to the best of my ability and give 110%.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Every day is different which keeps it interesting. It’s a great bunch of people who are all driven to succeed.

The facilities here are really good and it’s a great place to spend the working day. Having the break out room is a great place to switch off and relax during lunch.

As well, the management is always there to help and offer support if anyone needs it.

Tell us about your career path so far

After completing a carpenter apprenticeship when I was younger, I started work in a sales environment which is where I found my passion for people. I loved this job and it really helped me to develop as a person.

After that job, I lived and worked in Australia for two and a half years, mainly living in Sydney and Melbourne. I also travelled South East Asia and New Zealand for a few months.

I actually met my partner in Australia and when we returned, I relocated to the Preston area rather than going back to my hometown of Doncaster.

With the skills and experience which I had developed over the years, I figured that recruitment would be a perfect career path for me and so I began my career at Spencer Clarke Group.

How would your colleagues describe you?

They’d probably say that I was a good Yorkshire lad, hard working, energetic and always happy.

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

These days, you’d probably find me in B&Q! My partner and I have just bought our first house together so I’ve been spending a lot of time doing DIY at the moment.

If I’m not in B&Q, I love socialising in the pub and watching my beloved Manchester United playing football.

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I want to continue placing as many candidates into work as possible and achieving my personal targets!

10 Quick Fire Questions!

What’s your favourite film?

It has to be Gladiator.

Where’s the best place you’ve traveled to?

The Philippines - it’s such a beautiful and relaxing place. It was the first holiday with my partner and we stayed in a bamboo hut!

What advice would you give to your young self?

Don’t worry if your original career path doesn’t work out. If you work hard, everything will eventually fall into place over time.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

Yes I met Anthony Joshua in the Sheffield Nando’s!

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

The first one would be a fishing rod - give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.

The second one would be Bear Grylls if he’s available - he could come in pretty useful!

And the third one would be a case of Moretti.

Do you have any pets?

Yes, I have a miniature Labradoodle named Keith.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I’m an incredible chef - I’m great at making pasta dishes and BBQ’s but my signature meal is a Sunday roast - we call it the Sunday Joe-st!

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

It would have to be the OffWeek Festival in Barcelona in 2017 - it was incredible!

What animal is your spirit animal?

An eagle!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

A good antipasti board with plenty of Brie!
