SEND Tribunal & Mediations Officer       

Location - Local Authority on the Southcoast

Salary: £400 per day     

Contract: Initial 3–6-month contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Schedule – 5 days per week

Fully remote working

 

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking a SEND Tribunal & Mediations officer for an interim contract with our client, a local authority on the Southcoast.

 

As a SEND Tribunal & Mediations Officer, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and overseeing the Council's mediation and tribunal processes related to assessing additional educational needs for children and young people aged 0-25.

 

Tasks include preparation, assessment, research, and networking to develop and manage systems supporting this effort across the local authority. additional needs.

 

Duties will include:

 

  • Facilitate mediation proceedings for parents or young persons intending to appeal to the SEN & Disability Tribunal (SENDIST).
  • Represent the Authority in mediation sessions and make decisions aligned with the child or young person's best interests and DCC policies within budgetary constraints.
  • Ensure timely implementation of agreements reached through mediation.
  • Manage, arrange, and prepare work related to appeals to SENDIST concerning statutory assessments and Statements of special educational needs.
