Job Title: Interim Clerk of Works - Fire Safety

Location: West Yorkshire, UK

Duration: Interim, ongoing

 

As the Interim Clerk of Works - Fire Safety, you will provide technical expertise and supervision to ensure the delivery of building fire safety projects across the Council’s Housing stock. You will oversee the implementation of fire safety works programmes, ensuring compliance with approved specifications and standards.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise on building fire safety, with a focus on supervising the delivery of district-wide Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) work actions programmes.
  • Supervise contractors and specialist suppliers during the execution of FRA works programmes, ensuring adherence to approved specifications and method statements.
  • Inspect work in progress, offering technical guidance and ongoing support to installers to maintain quality standards.
  • Conduct weekly reviews of work in progress, reporting overall progress against programme targets and identifying risks and issues with detailed mitigation plans.
  • Ensure that approved quality standards are maintained throughout each stage of installation and accurate records are maintained.
  • Provide specialist technical fire safety advice regarding scope and specifications as required.

 

Knowledge, Qualifications, Skills, and Experience

  • ONC/HND in Built Environment, working toward or willingness to undertake.
  • Fire Safety qualifications such as Level 2 NVQ diploma in Passive Fire Protection or equivalent.
  • Experience conducting Fire Risk Assessments
