Spencer Clarke Group Braves the Shave!

1-2 minutes

We’re proud to say that our consultants have raised £898 for Macmillan Cancer Support in a hairmazing act of kindness!

On what would have been a normal Friday afternoon, Lead Consultant John Shorrock and Associate Consultant Joe Penny proved they’re a cut above the rest, and agreed to shave their heads in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

There was a buzz around the office as everyone gathered to witness John and Joe shave their heads in a brave effort to raise money for people living with cancer.

John and Joe set an initial target of £250, but with donations from colleagues, friends and Umbrella.co.uk, they smashed their target raising an incredible £898!

Shorrock said, “Having personally experienced a family member undergo treatment for Stage 3 lymphoma, it made complete sense to brave the shave to show support and solidarity for the family member that needed it most!”

With John’s family member thankfully now given the clear, John wanted to stand in solidarity and brave the shave in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.

Shorrock added, “The response was overwhelming and to have raised nearly £900 in support of Macmillan is astonishing.”

After John announced he was going to brave the shave, Joe was more than happy to volunteer too. Joe said, “Having lost family members to cancer myself, I wanted to get involved and thought it could be a fun way to get a new trim as well as raising money for a good cause.”

In 2015, Macmillan Cancer Support launched Brave the Shave, to encourage participants to shave their heads and make a difference to people living with cancer.

Brave the Shave is now an all year round opportunity to raise money for cancer. This year, £194,079 has been raised for Macmillan Cancer Support by braving the shave and a total of 1,445 shavers have signed up this year.

If you would like to donate to this amazing cause, there is still time to donate, thank you.
