Meet The Team - Adam Pickering

1-2 minutes

We recently caught up with Recruitment Consultant, Adam Pickering, to find out which famous James Bond actor he once met on a train and what he loves about working at Spencer Clarke Group!

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I began working at Spencer Clarke Group in March 2022. I have been made to feel really welcome from day one and I think I have settled in well within the team!

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in Accountancy and Finance practice, working with clients and candidates who are based in Central London.

What do you love most about what you do?

I enjoy working in recruitment as I am a highly driven person and I have a good work ethic which is needed for succeeding in this industry.

I also love the office environment here at Spencer Clarke Group, there is a great work culture and team spirit.

What motivates you at work?

I am motivated by the job satisfaction I feel when I find a candidate a great opportunity which they might not have come across without my assistance. I love getting positive feedback from candidates and this pushes me to keep working to the best of my ability.

I also have a family of two young children who I want to provide with everything that I can.

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Working at Spencer Clarke Group is definitely fun! There is a great mix between working hard and having fun. Management always ensures that everyone feels valued and supported, we all share the same goal to make Spencer Clarke Group a great success.

Tell us about your career path so far

Before I started working in recruitment, I completed a degree in Sports Science and was studying to be a P.E. teacher as I have always loved sports.

After getting my degree, I began a career working with children in residential care and I had a successful 16 year long career. I worked my way up to being a Registered Home Manager and received an Outstanding OFSTED grading.

I then decided it was time for a change and began my career in recruitment at Spencer Clarke Group.

How would your colleagues describe you?

I hope they would describe me as a team player, hard worker and a positive person!

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

Outside of work, you would normally find me at a kid’s play area with my two young children or if I’ve managed to sneak out of the house or arrange a baby-sitter, I’ll be found on the golf course!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

Something you probably wouldn’t expect is that I somehow managed to get on the red carpet at the 70th Anniversary Cannes Film Festival and I went into the theatre to watch the winning film.

I watched 20 minutes of the film which was in French (I didn’t understand a word), left and got a McDonalds in my suit with my friend who I was on holiday with.

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I want to focus on achieving my personal targets and I would love to work my way up to management level in the future.

I’d like to grow my market and reach the top of the Spencer Clarke Group leaderboard where we document our weekly and monthly achievements!

10 Quick Fire Questions!

What’s your favourite film?

I love the Lion King, my children have it on repeat at home, I often find myself singing along because we watch it that often.

Where’s the best place you’ve travelled to?

It would definitely be Monaco - I went there to celebrate my birthday at the F1 Grand Prix.

What advice would you give to your young self?

I would probably tell myself to look after my health, drink sensibly and always set achievable goals.

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I once met Pierce Brosnan in the first class carriage of a train going to London! He was really nice and even took a picture with my children!

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

I would take my children, some sunscreen and my mobile phone!

Do you have any pets?

No… just two kids!

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can do a 360 on a snowboard without falling over!

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

It’s definitely got to be 50 Cent from back in the day!

What animal is your spirit animal?

I would say it’s probably a Polar Bear.

What’s your guilty pleasure?

It would have to be getting a takeaway! I love all types and it normally takes me a good hour to decide which to go for!
