Meet The Team - Chelsea Waddell

We recently caught up with Recruitment Consultant, Chelsea Waddell, to find out about her career so far and which famous rapper she has seen live in concert!

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked at Spencer Clarke Group since February 2022. I already feel like a part of the team and I can’t imagine not working here now!

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in Technical and Engineering and my main focus is finding candidates for Surveying and Estimator roles and working with clients who have these vacancies available.

What do you love most about what you do?

I love working in recruitment because I am able to get stuck in every day and it is really rewarding when my hard work pays off! The days always fly by because recruitment is a fast-paced industry and I have many different clients who I work with on a daily basis.

What motivates you at work?

I am motivated by the friendly competition that we have in the office! Even though we always support each other, there is nothing wrong with being able to celebrate our own achievements too. We are always rewarded for our hard work with great incentives such as days out at the races!

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

There is a great culture here at Spencer Clarke Group and I really think you would struggle to find anywhere with a better office environment! Working here feels like being part of a big family (we are even regularly joined by the office pups who keep us company)!

Tell us about your career path so far

I attended Hutton Grammar Sixth Form where I studied Psychology, Theatre, English Literature and English Language. After leaving here, I began working in a sales role at Capita from the age of 18 to 20.

After this, I began my career in recruitment and specialised in industrial roles. I worked at my previous employer for 6 months before moving here to Spencer Clarke Group. I had actually wanted to work here since the age of 18 so when I was offered the role, I was over the moon!

How would your colleagues describe you?

I would like to think they would describe me as easy-going, kind and hopefully they’d say that I make a good brew!

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

Outside of work I love to spend time with my Mum, Dad, two younger siblings and my boyfriend Dylan!

I also love to go out for tea - my favourite kind of food is Greek, you can’t beat a lamb gyros!

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

Something you might not guess about me, and that I’m really proud of, is the fact that by the age of 20, I was in a position to buy my first house! This was a great achievement for me and I was pleased to see my hard work pay off.

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I am keen to continue placing as many candidates as possible into roles that they are going to love! My main focus at the moment is working with Surveyors and Estimators and this means that I can dedicate all my energy to finding them a great job where they can develop their career!

10 Quick Fire Questions!

What’s your favourite film?

It would have to be ‘10 things I hate about you’.

Where’s the best place you’ve travelled to?

I love visiting Belfast, my Dad is from there so it’s a special place for me!

What advice would you give to your young self?

I would tell myself to always persevere even when you feel like giving up, keep going and the hard work will always pay off!

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I met Joel Corry at a nightclub appearance in Preston.

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

I think I would take a boat, a compass and a paddle - I don’t plan on staying there very long!

Do you have any pets?

I don’t but I’d love my own fish or any other sea animal really.

Do you have any hidden talents?

I can say the longest Welsh town name, which is Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch. I learnt this after going on holiday to Rhyl when I was little and I was determined to be able to say it fluently! It’s my party trick!

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

This is a hard question for me but it would have to be either Stormzy or JLS… I have a varied music taste!

What animal is your spirit animal?

It would have to be a shark as I can be quite feisty!

What’s your guilty pleasure?

Easy one - it has to be ABBA!
