Meet the Team - Jenna McFarlane

We recently caught up with Senior Consultant, Jenna McFarlane, to find out more about her time at Spencer Clarke Group so far and where she has been travelling!

How long have you worked at Spencer Clarke Group?

I have worked at Spencer Clarke Group since January 2022 and I felt like a member of the family straight away!

What markets do you specialise in?

I specialise in recruiting for the NHS and public sector nationwide!

What do you love most about what you do?

I love that I get to speak to new people every day and build new candidate and client relationships. I love how fast-paced recruitment is, that I am always busy and that every day is different.  

What motivates you at work?

At work I am motivated by being able to place people into a new role, this gives me great job satisfaction. I also love having personal goals to reach as this gives me a real sense of pride when I hit my targets. 

How would you describe working at Spencer Clarke Group?

Spencer Clarke Group has a great work-life balance and whilst everyone is very motivated to succeed, we also know how to have fun! There is a really supportive team of people here who always celebrate each other's achievements!

Tell us about your career path so far

At sixth form, I completed A-Levels in Business Studies, English Language and Sociology. After this I then went on to working full time as a wedding coordinator and then I became the manager of a bridal boutique. 

During this time I had always wanted to travel and so in 2018, I decided to take a leap of faith and booked a one-way ticket to Australia. I spent a year on a working holiday visa before coming home to start my career in recruitment. 

I now have 3 years experience working within recruitment, I started at another agency specialising in the health care sector and now I’m here at Spencer Clarke Group. I love what I do! 

How would your colleagues describe you?

I hope my colleagues would describe me as fun, hard-working and passionate about what I do. 

Where are we most likely to find you outside of work?

Outside of work, I love to go for long dog walks in the countryside and socialise with my friends and family. I am a big foodie so I love trying out new restaurants. 

Tell us something we’d never guess about you!

Despite being 4ft 11, I love to whizz around the netball court once a week, playing as the Centre position for my local team. 

What’s next for you at Spencer Clarke Group?

I look forward to growing my market to expand my client base within the public sector!

What’s your favourite film?

The Bucket List. 

Where’s the best place you’ve traveled to?

There are so many to choose from but I think Bali and Australia would be up there! 

What advice would you give to your young self?

Don’t worry about what other people think about you. 

Have you ever met anyone famous?

I don’t think I have. 

What three items would you take with you to a deserted island?

I would take my phone, a few bottles of wine and my dog! 

Do you have any pets?

Yes I have a dog who is a chocolate Labrador called Hazel (well it is my sister’s but I like to claim her as my own!)

Do you have any hidden talents?

Not that I’ve discovered yet… 

What’s the best gig you’ve been to?

I went to see Nelly in Bali, which was an experience I will never forget! 

What animal is your spirit animal?

My spirit animal is a dog. 

What’s your guilty pleasure?

It would have to be a New Zealand Sauvignon on a Friday night!
