Senior Education Welfare Officer - Peckham ***

We are currently working in partnership with Local authority in the Peckham area who are looking to appoint a Senior Education Welfare Officer within their Family Assessment & Early Help Service.

Contract - 3 - 6 month agency role with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Working Hours - Full Time Position (36 hours).

Location - Peckham, SE15.

Rate of Pay - £22+ per hour – Higher rates can be negotiated for more experienced candidates.

Main Duties:

  • Provide an effective education inclusion service in Southwark’s Family Early Help team, supporting children, young people, and families.
  • Work collaboratively with parents, young people, and schools to ensure compulsory school-age children access education.
  • Focus on promoting full-time attendance, preventing exclusion, and supporting steps to avoid permanent exclusion.
  • Deliver timely and effective services, including statutory responsibilities, parental responsibility measures, and addressing persistent non-attendance through legal planning.
  • Lead on education legal planning meetings, supervise orders, parenting orders, and related legal processes.
  • Contribute to identifying and addressing cases of children missing education.
  • Provide oversight and consultation to ensure timely and appropriate decisions are made in cases of persistent non-attendance.

Experience / Knowledge Needed:

  • Local Authority / Public Sector.
  • Family Assessments & Interventions.
  • Early Help Service Support.
