SEND Tribunal, Disagreement Resolution, Complaints and Workforce Development Officer

3 month initial contract
Hybrid working - 2 days per week in office - North London Local Authority
Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal Officer to manage, investigate, and resolve disagreements and complaints relating to the provision for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) within the Local Authority.
The SEND Tribunal Officer will work closely with parents, carers, schools and professionals to resolve concerns through effective communication and early resolution.
Essential Requirements:
- Strong understanding of current SEND legislation including the Children and Families Act 2014 and the SEND Code of Practice 2015.
- Proven experience in representing local authorities at SEND tribunals.
- Ability to resolve conflicts through mediation and negotiation.
Duties include but not limited to:
- Represent the Local Authority by preparing for and attending tribunal hearings.
- Act as the main point of contact for families and stakeholders to resolve situations without the need for tribunal hearings where possible.
- Use evidence a basis for analysing problems, agreeing actions and securing improvements in services.
Skills required:
- Ability to manage complex cases with proficiency and empathy.
- Highly effective in both written and spoken communication.
- Able to maintain effective record-keeping systems both manual and computer based.
