SEND Tribunal & Mediations Case Manager

£430 - £450 per day

3 month initial contract

Hybrid working - Southeast England

Spencer Clarke Group are seeking an experienced SEND Tribunal & Mediations Case Manager to take responsibility for complex cases, appeals and disputes relating to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Working as part of a local authority team in Southeast England, you will work closely with professionals, families and the SEN Manager to determine whether agreements can be made without the need for a hearing.

Essential Requirements:

  • Secure understanding of current SEN legislation and experience in representing local authorities at SEND Tribunals.
  • Proven experience of managing SEN Casework in a local authority context.
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability to ensure that Tribunal cases are progressed according to statutory time-frames.

Duties include but not limited to:

  • Prepare and maintain high quality case statements linked to SEND appeals.
  • Represent the Local Authority by preparing for and attending formal mediations and actioning any follow up activity.
  • Review Tribunal decisions to identify learning points and areas for improvement.

Skills required:

  • Able to work collaboratively with various other Council teams towards a common goal of meeting the needs of children with SEND.
  • Strong organisational skills and able to prioritise tasks to meet legal deadline dates.
  • Excellent negotiation and mediation skills.
