About the Role:
We are seeking a dedicated SEMH Teaching Assistant to join a specialist school in Leyland, supporting students with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time, long-term, and temp to perm role, starting after the October half-term.
The successful candidate will work closely with primary and secondary-aged students, providing one-on-one and small group support to help them manage challenging behaviours and achieve their educational goals. You will be working from 8:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday, term-time only.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide support to students with SEMH needs, both in the classroom and during activities.
- Implement behaviour management strategies and assist with individual learning plans.
- Build strong, supportive relationships with students, helping them navigate challenges and develop positive coping strategies.
- Work closely with the teaching team to create a nurturing, structured environment for all students.
- Provide one-on-one or small group support, encouraging academic progress and social development.
- Adapt and tailor support to meet the individual needs of each student.
Requirements:
- Must hold a Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience working with children with SEMH needs or challenging behaviour is desirable.
- A resilient, proactive approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
- A passion for making a difference in the lives of young people.
