Job description

Spencer Clarke Group work closely with local authority SEN services nationwide providing them with experienced SEND professionals into a variety of roles.

We are looking to make multiple appoints of SEND Officers for a Local Authority based in Southeast London.

AS an SEN Case Officer, you will implement and co-ordinate the needs assessment and review process and directly challenge and support schools, professionals and families in relation to the Children and Families Act 2014 in order to prevent/reduce legal challenge against the LA.

Contract Details

Pay Scale – Starting from £200 - £250 per hour – Negotiable depending on experience.

Working Arrangements – Hybrid working – expectation to be in the office 4 days per week / 1 day working from home.

Contract Length – 3-6 month+ rolling contract highly likely to be extended on an ongoing basis.

Key Duties include:

  • Support schools and settings in meeting the needs of pupils with SEND by following the graduated approach to meeting needs, developing close working relationships and offering advice and support to SENCos and head teachers.
  • Apply the highest possible standards to customer care in relation to all service users.
  • Work as a team within a cluster under the leadership of a Senior Casework Officer, SEND, supporting a group of schools and settings.
  • To work closely with the High Needs Support Officer and Independent Travel Trainer for the team in ensuring that all aspects of pupils’ support is considered
  • Work closely with internal colleagues in SENISS, OT, EPS and other services including Children’s and Adult Social Care, Health etc. in order to ensure a multi-agency
  • Co-ordinate the statutory assessment process for children and young people with SEND and their families for a specific group of schools and settings including managing the EHC planning process from assessment through to placement and review.
