Welfare Assistant - SEND School
Location: Skelmersdale
Hours: Monday to Friday, 10:00am - 2:30pm
Pay Rate: £17.50 per hour
Contract: Long-Term
We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate Welfare Assistant to join a welcoming SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) school in Skelmersdale on a long-term basis.
This rewarding role involves supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, helping to ensure their health, wellbeing, and personal care needs are met throughout the school day.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supporting pupils during lunchtime and break periods.
- Assisting with personal care, including toileting and changing where required.
- Promoting pupils' independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
- Supporting students with feeding and hydration where necessary.
- Providing reassurance and emotional support to pupils throughout the day.
- Maintaining a safe, clean, and nurturing environment.
- Working closely with teaching staff and other professionals to support individual pupil needs.
The Ideal Candidate Will:
- Have experience working with children or young people, ideally within a SEND setting.
- Be comfortable and willing to undertake personal care duties.
- Have a caring, patient, and empathetic nature.
- Be able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
- Be reliable, punctual, and committed to supporting children with additional needs.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
