~ Gypsy & Traveller Liaison Officer ~

Spencer Clarke Group are working in partnership with Cheshire West & Chester Council to appoint a Gypsy & Traveller Liaison Officer to their Development Service.

3 Month agency contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.

Working Hours – Full Time Position. (37 Hours per week)

Location – CH65 0BE. (Due to COVID-19 restrictions you may be required to work from various locations including home working)

Rate of Pay - £12.95+ per hour – Negotiable depending on experience.

About the Role;

  • Support the management and development of a sub-regional Gypsy Traveller team and associated sites across Cheshire. To ensure that local performance targets are met and service standards are adhered to.
  • Support the senior GTLO in effective management of the council/partnership owned sites for Gypsy and Travellers. This will include ensuring Health and Safety Regulations are met and allocation of pitches and breaches of licence are dealt with in accordance with the adopted policies and procedures and the financial management of the sites is in order.
  • Manage the councils/partnership approach to dealing with Gypsy & Traveller unauthorised encampments and the associated communication strategy.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Assist the senior GTLO in the day to day management of sites, allocating resources to maintain agreed standards.
  • Maintain systems to ensure that appropriate management information is provided and made accessible to the senior management team.
  • Assist with the promotion and monitoring of policies designed to ensure that the authority complies with all legislation in relation to site management, site development and service delivery, taking into account the views of Gypsies and Travellers and other stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the development and promotion of policies designed to counter discrimination and prejudice faced by the Gypsy and Traveller community. Liaise with members of other services and external organisations on current issues and relevant policies designed to ensure good practice towards Gypsy and Traveller groups.
