An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Developer to join a Local Authority in Exeter on an interim contract basis.
As a Digital Developer, you’ll play a vital role in helping design, evolve and support our strategic API Management system, together with helping to skill share across the team.
About the role
As a Digital Developer you will be responsible for:
- Building new Java classes to extend our API Management platform
- Developing and extending Python-based AWS Lambda APIs
- Working with the Solutions Architect to design and deliver product features
- Technically Lead the team, including mentoring junior developers
- Assisting testing and peer reviews of technical delivery
- Providing technical advice to internal users of the system
About you
The ideal candidate for this position must have:
- A working knowledge of implementing or supporting REST APIs using an API Management solution (e.g. WSO2, Apigee).
- Highly proficient in Python and Java development.
- Experience of building unit tests with Junit and mocking frameworks, e.g. Mockito.
- Demonstrable knowledge of using Amazon AWS services including Lambda, EC2 and experience of the AWS CodePipeline.
Experience which is not essential but desirable includes:
- Development experience using Spring and Spring Boot.
- Good understanding of Linux shell scripts (e.g. bash).
- Integration experience using REST APIs and JSON.
- Working knowledge of Auth and Auth protocols, including OAuth2 and API keys.

What’s on offer
Pay Rate: £525 per day Inside IR35
Contract type: 6 month contract with a view to being extended on an ongoing basis.
Hours: Monday – Friday 40hrs per week
