An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bookkeeper/ Accounts Assistant to join an Accountancy practice in Woking on a full time permanent basis.

In this position you’ll play a vital role in managing the bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, to ensure records are fully maintained and updated, ready for the process of filing quarterly VAT Returns and management reports.

You’ll be someone who wants to work in practice that embraces technology, new systems and processes that ensure the best delivery of their service to clients.

About the role

Based in Woking you will be responsible for: 

  • Processing purchase invoices
  • Processing sales invoices
  • Performing bank, Paypal, Credit card and online sale reconciliations
  • Control account reconciliations
  • Foreign currency transactions
  • Processing journals
  • Assist with completion and filing of VAT returns
  • Using client systems to provide data
  • Payroll and auto enrolment pension processing experience desirable
  • Understanding and/or experience of Company Secretarial processes desirable
  • Resolution of outstanding queries

About you

The ideal candidate for this position must have:

  • Bookkeeping experience
  • Experience using Xero and Quickbooks online, and other cloud accountancy packages including integration solutions.
  • An organised and methodical approach to record-keeping
  • Ability to work accurately and to strict deadlines, managing own workload and setting priorities
  • Ability to learn new tasks quickly with a desire to get through tasks efficiently, with a methodical approach
  • Good excel skills
  • Reliable and enthusiastic attitude

Experience which is not essential but desirable includes: 

  • Bookkeeping within Accountancy practice
