Spencer Clarke Group Turns 5

On August 1st 2022, we celebrated the Spencer Clarke Group doors being open for an incredible five years!
Way back in 2017, Managing Director, Mike Shorrock, along with Shareholder, Michael Spencer and Business Manager, Thomas Humphreys opened the Spencer Clarke Group doors for the very first time.
Since day one, we have moved into three different office spaces to accommodate our ever expanding teams and we now employ 29 people at a modern and vibrant office space at the Bartle Court Business Centre in Preston.
On talking about his faith in Spencer Clarke Group in the early days, Shorrock said, “Five years ago today, I made the leap of faith to open Spencer Clarke Group’s doors and what a 5 years it has been!”
Shorrock continued, “ I had no idea what to expect and setting up a business was extremely daunting. My gut feeling told me it was the right time, and I can genuinely say it’s the best decision I have ever made! I am immensely proud of how far we have come, growing from just one member of staff (Thomas) to the current 29 we employ.”
When discussing the transition from employee to employer, Shorrock said, “I had the belief that I could offer something different as an employer and build an environment where employees truly felt empowered, appreciated and rewarded.”
To celebrate five successful years, we are celebrating in a number of ways. To kick things off, we’ve donated £100 each to five charities as nominated by five of our employees. These include Young Minds (as nominated by Sam Stanton), Beacon Counselling Trust (nominated by Matt Byrne-Fraser), GAIN Charity (nominated by John Shorrock), Trinity Hospice (nominated by Helen Welburn) and Medical Detection Dogs (nominated by Ellie Cutts).
Over the years, we’re proud to have supported countless charities including donating presents to Blackpool Victoria Hospital at Christmas, donating toiletries and clothing to refugees fleeing Afghanistan and taking on the challenge of Tough Mudder to raise money for the charity Mind Lancashire.
As it is our employees' hard work, determination and commitment over the years which has got us to where we are now, we took the opportunity to celebrate and thank them with a delicious lunch and games.
We also rewarded five employees with a spin on the famous Spencer Clarke Group wheel. The wheel is packed with fantastic prizes and usually reserved for our employees of the month.
To decide which five employees would be the lucky ones, balloons were blown up with a small piece of paper inside - five pieces of those papers had the word ‘WIN’ on them. We instructed our team to all pop their chosen balloons at the same time to reveal the lucky winners!
To conclude, Shorrock said, “ I am eternally grateful to the incredible team who go above and beyond every single day to make Spencer Clarke Group who we are today. Along the way, we’ve worked with some incredible candidates and clients, building long lasting relationships, and setting the foundations for future growth.”
Shorrock continued, “As a business, we’ve had our ups and downs and it hasn’t all been plain sailing, but I can’t wait to see what the next five years holds for Spencer Clarke Group and our team! To every employee, candidate, and client of Spencer Clarke Group, I’d like to say a big thank you and we look forward to the future!”
